Cable pull-in at Kriegers Flak and Baltic 2 offshore platforms

Published 6.7.2018 02.00

This week, both offshore cables of the Combined Grid Solution – Kriegers Flak have been installed. Energinet and 50Hertz are now a big step closer to the realisation of the first interconnector linking the Danish and the German transmission grids in com-bination with the infrastructure of offshore wind farm grid connection.

As planned, the second and last 25 kilometre long submarine cable for the link has been laid on the Danish platform of the Kriegers Flak windpark yesterday. Starting point for the installation of both cables was the German platform Baltic 2.

Per Obbekær, project manager from Energinet: „These are great news. In the busi-ness everybody knows how complex the installation of submarine cables can become; especially in this case we have pulled in the cables without any interruption of the operating platform (Baltic 2). Due to the very good cooperation with all involved parties we have reached this important milestone".
