Following the political agreement on Power-to-X (PtX) reached on 15 March 2022 Energinet will initiate a study looking into Danish hydrogen infrastructure (pipelines and storage) enabling flexibility for large scale hydrogen production and exports.
The study will assess the potential for establishing a hydrogen infrastructure and market through analysis of viability, stakeholder interest and socioeconomic rationality in the context of decarbonization in Europe and value creations in Danish production and utilization of PtX.
The high political ambitions for utilizing the Danish onshore and offshore renewable energy potential and placing Denmark as a net exporter of green energy will require infrastructure for large scale transport and storage of hydrogen. The PtX agreement emphasizes the need for taking the first step towards a national hydrogen infrastructure that can promote exports to countries such as Germany. To be well prepared, Energinet has already initiated a dialog with German partners about expanding the ongoing cooperation in preparations for hydrogen infra-structure between Denmark and Germany.
As a stakeholder to a Danish hydrogen infrastructure, Energinet invites you to join us and share your perspectives on different infrastructure solutions and opportunities. Moreover, we look forward to discussing solutions that could bring us closer to realizing the Danish PtX potential through good and timely infrastructure solutions.
