NOW IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO INFLUENCE THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DANISH GAS SYSTEM
Users of the Danish gas system now have an opportunity to influence the development of the system, as the Incremental Capacity process defined in the EU Network Code on Capacity Allocation Mechanisms will start during summer 2019.
Although only our border point with Germany (Ellund) is a current interconnection point, and therefore falls under the Network Code above, we would also like to include the future “IP Faxe” (future export to Poland) and our other points in the process to a wide extent, however recognizing unique characteristics of each point.
New consequences because of the Baltic Pipe project
The Incremental Capacity process was last conducted by Energinet in 2017. All shippers should pay extra attention to the process this year, considering the recent investment decision for the Baltic Pipe project. Baltic Pipe will increase utilization of the system from 2022, and thereby leads to lower tariffs for all.
Another consequence of the Baltic Pipe project will be less spare capacity in the gas system, which further stresses the importance of users to make their voices heard concerning their needs for future capacity. If you are a shipper, you should make yourself familiar with the information exchange and deadlines in the Incremental Capacity process.
