Energinet's gas tariffs stabilizes in 2025

The gas transmission tariff will remain unchanged, and the emergency supply tariff will stabilize at the same level as before the energy crisis.

The gas system is changing, not only internationally, but also nationally. Previously operations, production and consumption were stable and predictable, but now we are moving into a new reality that is constantly changing. The development is primarily driven by the green transition, where fossil natural gas for national consumption is replaced in favor of green gases and especially biogas.

In recent years, gas prices have reached historically high levels and have fluctuated wildly, both within a day and over longer periods. Price fluctuations have challenged the physical balance in the Danish system as the financial consequences have led gas market players to act in new ways.

The situation has now stabilized, which means that the gas transmission tariff will remain unchanged, and the emergency supply tariff will stabilize at the same level as before the energy crisis.

Gas transmission tariff 2025
Energinet has determined the gas transmission tariff for 2025 at DKK 58.24/kWh/h/year from 1. January 2025.  This is a marginal decrease of 0.2 per cent compared to this year's tariff of DKK 58.36/kWh/h/year. The development is due to a stable underlying cost level and a slight increase in expected capacity sales.

Emergency Supply Tariff for 2024/2025
Energinet has determined the emergency supply tariff for the gas year 2024/2025 for the protected customers at DKK 0.00490/kWh and for the non-protected customers at DKK 0.00175/kWh. This is an increase of 66 per cent and 38 per cent, respectively, compared to the emergency supply tariffs for 2023/2024.

The increases are due to the fact, that the emergency supply tariff has been at an extraordinarily low level this year, as a result of fluctuations in emergency supply costs in recent years compared to price expectations. Overall, this means that gas tariffs in the coming years are back at the same level as before the extreme fluctuations during the energy crisis.
